Proverbs 2:12-15
WALKER

Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways. – Proverbs 2:12-15

Google counts my steps. It counts yours also, even if you are unaware that it does. I can also set it to map out where I have walked in a given day. It is kind of creepy in a way, but knowing where I went on a certain day may come in handy one day! But I have noticed something about the steps I take: how many steps I have taken in a day has nothing to do with my perception of how many I have taken. Sometimes it seems I hardly walked at all, but my step count is high. Sometimes it is the opposite, thinking I walked a lot when I didn’t. Either of these scenarios makes me think back over the day, about where all I have been. It is worth the effort to count the daily steps in our Christian walk.

How many things did I intentionally do that made me the “light of the world” Jesus calls all Christians to be?

How many things did I do out of habit, i.e. unintentional that shined His light in a dark world?

When we both plan before and recall afterwards the opportunities and outcomes, we can see a pattern that corresponds to the people we associate with. Yes, we are to walk among the lost in order to shine the light of righteousness, grace, and eternal salvation, but we also need to heed God’s wisdom in being careful not to walk with them. We as Christians are IN this world, but no longer OF this world.

Find and keep a good Christian peep group that have chosen their paths using God’s wisdom to help you stay rooted and grounded in Christ. Guard yourself against walking with those that walk in darkness.

Love you!

“The Christian life is evidenced not by repeating a prayer or adding one’s name to a church role but a consistent walk with Jesus. The Christian life is not periodic religious outbursts, but faithfulness for a lifetime… a long walk on a winding trail.” – Mike Pineda
